Well SLOBB Season 4 - the Blood Bowl - kicked off
The BBQ also saw Rabid's Visigoths win their 2nd successive title - adding the Chaos Cup to the Dungeon Bowl trophy. With 3 of the Wood Elf teams retiring only the Visigoths and Lictor's Haman's Hammers will have played all four seasons.
In addition to the final 9 games have already been played in the new season with the league now up to 28 coaches. View/Add Comments ..... |
Welcome to the first of many up dates of the trials and tribulations of the Blue Chaos Muffins. Coach Slick was devastated after the White Tail Scramblers were traded after such a good start in the BADGA league in Vic. With his pride damaged he moved to Adelaide and started coaching a new team in the greenacres Blood Bowl league.
Game 1
The Blue Chaos Muffins started off with a shaky start, as they had a one nil loss to the dark elder Team. Their name to be advised as Slick cracked it and lost the paperwork. The Muffins for the life of them the could not break armor. Even with a Minotaur and an ogre they would just not stay down. By the end of the game the only stat that was awarded was the MVP to the minotaur. Not a good start to the League. Slick coming from the fast and high scoring White Tail Scramblers, is just not use to this style of play. Hmm game two will be better!
Game 2
Game two and the Muffins take on the Fangs For the Memories, the Vampires playing there second game as well. The muffins decide to receive the ball and start off with a big push down the center of the field. With two big guys up front the coach yells "go for the middle". The push starts off well but gets no where fast. Its a tug and war battle with the vamps as the ball gets bounced from the muffins to the Fangs with no real ball winners. Then from out of no where the ball gets stuck on the horn of Pytigors the Minotaur. As he blitz's his way through the cage, he makes a difficult dodge and makes 2 GFI for the TD. The second Half is much the same as the first till Snagnib the Goblin makes a break down the right flank and with a wall of Marauders to cover him he scores the TD on the final turn. Two skill ups with the Minotaur and Ogre Minotaur now has Break Tackle and the Ogre with Gard.
Game 3
With the Whit Tail Scramblers having a comeback game (teaching a noob how to play) the BCM were up for a hard game. As coach Slick knew how fast some of them rats can run. The game started off well for the BCM as they scored a TD early. Mainly because they noob was still trying to figure how to play with the help from me. The secone half went better as the Scramblers made a fast break for a TD and the Marauders could not bring him down. Hm said slick we need some blitzes!!!! Which put the game at a tie, but a strong cage with the big guys at front and knocking out the rat ogre it was a strong push to the TD line for the BCM.
Game 4
The Blue Chaos Muffins started their game against Meg's dwarf team in spectacular fashion. The head coach was determined that the key to winning this game was to hoik the goblin over the tough dwarf line. The dwarves ignored the threat of the deep goblin throw and concentrated their effort on deploying an 11 man presence on or near midfield, to devastating effect. Matched up 1 on 1 the dwarves gave a strong acounting for themselves, with many one dice blocks sending Muffins to the ground with a thud. The rather hungover Ogre picked up the gobbo and proceeded to fumble him right back onto the line of scrimmage, among the violent dwarves. In desperation the little gobbo lobbed the ball to a marauder who had slipped his way around the dwarf wall, but the little fellow's arm just wasn't up the job and he only go tthe ball as far as the closest dwarf lineman, the ball got lodged in his beard for an unlikely interception. Luck switched back and forth like that for the first half, and the score was tied up at 1-1 at half time (thanks to a fantastic throw in by an accurate dwarf fan, who got the ball to a lone dwarf runner 3/4 the way up the pitch where no one could reach him!).
The Chaos pact got their act together in the second half, realising the trick to winning was not in out muscleing the dwarves in the middle but by slipping around them to score quickly. Content to make marauder jam, the dwarfs largely ignored the ball and got stuck in to the opposition whenever they had the chance. The muffins scored 2-0 in the second half, including a miraculous last minute touchdown by the happy-go-lucky little gobbo, much to the delight of his adoring fans.
Muffins MVP: The Minotaur who single handedly ripped apart a solid dwarf cage when all other hope of stopping the touchdown seemed gone.
Dwarfs MVP: For being in the right place at the right time the dwarf runner who was the teams lone scorer.
Game 5
Well the BCM took on the Mordhein Manglers in what was the game of the week as there was 23000 at the gate and the word around town was the BCM's were packing heat....... Shiv's! (house rull for the week see http://thediceanddeck.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=afoul&thread=1288&page=1)
The game started with the BCM's spliting their team in half as the coach new if the ref got wind of the weapons on the field that game was up. That and the players cant help themselves with sharpening the weapons on the pitch. The kick off went and the first tackle sent the BCM thrower off the pitch with a BH. Hm coach slick says with a "It's gona be one of those games" look on his face. after a a few more hits and some ruff housing there is 5 guys in the KO box from the BCM and 1 from the Mangles. Dam did the Manglers take weapons as well asks slick to one of the marauders that has just been sent off for stabbing.
The play of the week...... and in contest of play of the year go's to the Manglers when a line man puts the boot into the mistaken troll of the humans with help from 4 others. With the dice roll of equal to the armour. But wait the one marauder says ill give you a hand and with his help puts the troll into the dead box for the rest of the game with a broken neck.
This was the turning point that the BCM's needed, and the help of a change of weapons. Shivs to CHAINSAWS!!! Ha ha ha ha "this will do the trick" said slick as he can only field 3 players for the second half. With Manglers now dropping like flies, Snagrib the gobo picking up the ball and making a run up the right side. He has to dodge in and out, up and down. Lucky that he is only just bigger then the ball or this could just not be possible. In the end BCM's make the TD to draw the game and prepare for the final turns.
As it seems the dice gods where happy with the Manglers armour rolls, they seem not to be looking when they needed anything but a double skull for a block. With no RR's left the BCM's managed to keep the game to a draw. With Snagrib getting the MVP and taking himself to 17 SPP. He now has extra arms and catch. No one has thrown the ball to him yet but he is getting himself ready to one day catch the ball.
I have been flat out with work and gaming and forgot to up date the progress. Here is a quick update to the finals of the league.
Game 6
This was a snap four way Dungeon Ball game, which ended in a loss. But for the Muffins first DB its didn't go to well. For some reason the 3 big guys just did not want to hurt anyone. A few crazy house rules and the 4th team coming in late to appear via portal. It was an entertaining event.
Game 7
This game was against the Dirty Birds which are also the the league leaders. The game ended in a 1-2 loss. A close game with the Muffins scoring early, this seemed to make the undead team angry because the destruction that followed with 5 causalities then 2 quick TD put the undead team in a safe position. This and my team was left to 7 players and 1 Marauder killed. (Gnar'nagor RIP)
Its at this stage where I decide that hey I have an ogre and a gobo and still have not been able to throw him successfully. Now the focus of the team is to build the ogre to throwing gobo for a TD....... in the same turn but even just to get him to throw the gobo and he stay standing will do. There has been a few attempts but the only two throws that have been made ended in the gobo taking out one of the opposition. ( which wasn't to bad) And the gobo landing on his head dropping the ball and conceding a TD.
Game 8
This 1-0 win was against the Fangs for the Memories, the score was small but the 5-0 cas count the the big guys racked up just brought a tear to my eye. The ball was the secondary objective but pain was on the menu. A resurrection from one of the vamps prevented the death and brought him back from the dead...... dam they are just hard to kill.
Game 9 and 10
This win was a rematch with the Mordhein manglers, 3-1 to the muffins and 4 cas, 3 BH, 1 SI. Saw the muffins giving them a right old kicking. The house rule for this week saw the player with the most SPP getting a sponsorship deal, receiving sure feet and loner skills at the cost of $40,000. My Dark Elf Talonriel won the sponsorship with 3 TD and 1 cas. A big game and a skill up.
Next game with the manglers saw the game in a draw as no one could get the ball out of the centre. The only time the ball went close to the TD line the player got pushed out of bounds.
Game 11
A big win against Fangs for the Memories with 3-1 and 3-0 cas. 1 BH, 1 SI and 1 Kill. The muffins finally kill one Vampire and with the help of the wooden stake he stayed down.
At the end of this week I am 4th on the ladder.
Dirty Birds 7TDs for 3 TDs against 3 wins 0 draws 1 loss 9 points.
Dark Ravens 7tds for 5 agaisnt 2 wins 2 draws 1 loss 8 points.
Fangs for the Memories 4TDs for 9 against 2 wins 2 draws 2 losses 8 points.
Blue CHaos Muffins 7TDs for 5 against 2 wins 1 draw 3 losses 7 points.
SHippy's skaven 7tds for 1 td against 2 wins no draws no losses 6 points.
the Beerded Brewsers 4tds for 7 against no wins 2 draws 2 losses 2 points.
the Mordheim Manglers 2tds for 9 agaisnt no wins 1 draw 3 losses 1 point.
I play the Beerded Brewsers next Wednesday, with a knock out playoff to the finals. 1st and 2nd have a week off as the lower teams battle to get to the finals. A very lucky roll on the Apothecary saw my Dark elf staying alive and just missing the rest of the game. I head into the semi finals with a full team. The list is as follows.
Minotaur- Loner, Frenzy, MB, TS, WA, Break tackle, Block
Ogre- L, BH, MB, TS, TTM, Guard, Strong arm,
Gobo- Animosity, D,S,RS, extra arms, catch,
Dark elf- Loner sure feet, Animosity, block, +st,
5 x marauder with no skills
marauder- block
marauder- pass
troll- AH, MB, RS, Regen, TTM.
marauder- Really stupid, loner, disturbing pres, decay. House rule where if a player dies he comes back as a zombie with lowered states but still the same skills.
4 x RR
7 x FF

I realised I didn't post a blog entry after round 1. Suffice to say the rookie Chaos team really struggled against my "dancer free" woodies and I romped home 6-2. Even the saw & bribe only managed a KO. Even so only one skill from the game.
Second game against Steve aka "Captain Stupid" and his blockheads was a different matter. The Blockheads had 590k in inducements which went on "Morgina" and an apoth. The fans came in huge numbers to watch the Anarchists, and with Oak playing there was a whopping +3 FAME to the Elves.
The Blockheads won the toss and elected to receive. Obviously intending to go for the 8 turn grind. Lots of pressure from the elves did not manage to free the ball until fairly late in the half, but then it was a turnover and Dorrim recovered to run downfield - surviving a 2 dice block himself during the final sprint. A blitz in T8 meant the one turn option was no longer viable but only one BH meant the Anarchists went into the second half with a sub.
Things didn't go well for the anarchists, with Cedar rolling snake eyes for a catch in the open when everyone else was marked. However a blitz from Jarar just allowed Cedar to sidestep onto the ball which bounced from Dorrim's shins into her hands and a simple waltz in.
The Dwarves had plenty of time for a winner, but an oversight allowed Birch in to blitz Jarar and free the ball - caught by Cedar again. Morgina blitzed, freeing the ball but some great tackling from Teak meant Durian had a simple pick up and score for the winner.
So very few SPPs for the elves (unlike the last game!) and 3 MNGs to mean that a journey elf is required for the next game. The Blockheads were well managed and I think will be a serious contender for the play offs.
Morg and an unused apoth probably weren't the best value inducements but Steve is a very capable Dwarf coach who got badly punished for one of the very few mistakes he made to let me squeeze in a 2-1 win. D'Arquebus has got him in the final round and I think that ought to be a play off for second spot on today's form. That would line him up for a return against Rabid in the quarters which may be a real tight tussle. View/Add Comments ..... |
So round 7 saw my goblins take on one of our league commissioners in the grudge match for the season (we got to nominate our opponents for this round) and his fairly developed Ogre team. Unfortunately for me, The Ogres had claimed a 100k bounty a few rounds before and as such i was looking at a 6 ogre line up. Not pretty.
in some late shuffling, i was informed that the Ogres had purchased a last minute snotling, so i promptly dropped an assistant coach and cheerleader (which i had just purchased) to take a bloodweiser babe.
It was a must win game as my main divisional rival, The wood elf team that beat me in round 3, had only managed a draw from his last match. A win here would jump me to top of the division and one step closer to finals action!
I got the fame but the Ogres got the kick off. I set up my 2 trolls along with my fanatic on the front line, and then a net of goblins around and behind them.
First turn started alright for me, with the first 4 ogres failing their bonehead rolls, unfortunately, 1 ogre that didnt go bonehead knocked down my troll, enabling a second one to blitz my fanatic (with some snotling back up) and taking him down. I managed to run through some goblins to threaten the ball, but the a blocking, break tackle ogre got the ball in its big mits and from there it was always going to be tough. My trolls in the middle were making no headway, and soon one joined the fanatic, though luckily enough it was only knocked out. I managed to get a couple of 2 dice against blocks on the ball carrier (with 2 goblins) but could not budge the ball, and despite my best efforts the ogres managed to score turn 8, blasting their way down a flank whilst i tried to throw 2 dice blocks to take it down. Luckily i only had some knocked out goblins, and 1 seriously injured one, but only managed to take out 2 snotlings in return. Things werent looking good for the goblins...
Worse still, despite the babe, not enough goblins came back to prevent me having to use a secret weapon! so the chainsaw came on for 1 turn. the subsequent turn saw me trying to take down the 3 snotlings that were fed to me, but didnt manage to hurt any of them. the chainsaw not surprisingly got through armour but couldnt do anything lasting, and as such was also wasted.
Second turn saw 4 ogres scattered across the line of scrimage. My 2 trolls lined up against the right 2, while the left to were left open, with the bomber lining up opposite, ready to do what it does best! unfortunately, my first block by a troll saw him fall over, despite a reroll, and so i was left in a bit of trouble...
the return salvo was luckily not too bad, and so i was able to recover. My 2 trolls this turn cleared house, injuring 1 ogre and stunning another, while the goblins closed in to help out. My bomber managed to avoid too much trouble, and threw a bomb to an ogre who failed to catch it and was knocked over for its trouble. This was all it would do as it then was targeted and was unable to throw another bomb before being knocked out. Meanwhile, i managed to get a few goblins behind the lines, while my pogoer recovered the ball and moved down the right to threaten to get behind the lines. with his front line of ogres down, the trolls found themselves looking at some snotlings, and started to even the number. despite some dogged defence, and even dislodging the ball from my pogoer (who failed to dodge and subsequently knocked itself out) and injuring one of my trolls, the ogres didnt have the movement to catch my goblins to stop the td, which i scored at turn 7. Luckily the troll regened, and for the ogres 1 snotling recovered so 2 were alive to challange. unfortunately 1 goblin was not so lucky and died screaming, being eaten by an ogre.
A bit more biff transpired, as the ogres tried for the one turn touchdown and came up just short.
So overtime was undertaken. Once again the ogres won the kick off, but after a ok half, i still managed to have 3 rerolls left over. And with only 2 snotlings left it was looking tough for the ogres.
The Ogres set up for the throw snotling play, with 1 snotling setting up deep on one side and a skill-less ogre setting up deep on the other. Not surprisingly i kicked to the ogre side, who managed to guard the ball. Once again my trolls got hammered in the middle, but managed to hold up 4 ogres while i managed to run 4 or 5 goblins into the backfield. Under threat, the ogre managed to pick up the ball, as the nearby snotlings were knocked over. despite this, my goblins were not to be stopped, and all 4 ganged up on the ball carrier, with my goblin captain managing to knock the big fella over, though knocking himself down in the process. The ball scattered to the waiting hands of a goblin assister, who found himself 3 squares from scoring!!! The only ogre in range failed his bonehead trying to blitz, meaning all that the ogres could do was put 2 snotlings in the way to try and stop the ball carrier. One of my trolls was knocked out but by this time that was of little consequence. Despite some average blocking, the goblin dodged out and scored for the 2-1 win and much rejoicing!!!
So my secret weapons failed utterly, my trolls were quiet (only 1 casualty) but i still managed to win the game. This was definately a game for the unheralded players of my team to stand up, and stand up they did.
My Multiblock troll did manage to get 1 casualty which skilled it up, nabbing stand firm to make him nasty to any str 3 players in its way.
My Pogoer also got a casualty to take it to 24 SPP, though really had a quiet game. My diving tackle goblin also got a casualty, which puts it within a casualty of going up as well.
After that though, 2 unSPPed goblins picked up the touchdowns, 1 unSPPed goblin picked up a casualty and 1 unSPPed goblin grabbed 2 casualties!
the only downside was the MVP went to the departing goblin, which would have skilled it up. doh.
My winnings covered the price of replacing him, and other than the death, there was no lasting injuries to my goblins.
End result was 2-1 to the goblins with 5-6 casualties and a kill each!
So as stated earlier, my goblins go to 6-1 and take top spot of the division.
unfortunately, their next opponent is an undefeated dwarf team. Luckily the dwarves are not too skilled up, so it could be an interesting game. Once again my trolls will be very important, as will my secret weapons.
it is going to be tough though. View/Add Comments ..... |
Easter Greetings Sports Fans!
27,000 screaming fans saw skaven rivalries of old renewed again last night with the St Albans Park Scabbers taking on Skritter's Squeeelers. The Scabbers were on a 3 win streak while the Squeeelers had taken a bit of a hiding last game Vs the Athel Seahawks (IIRC) with a Blitzer being killed and the other missing the game, through injury.
Skritters Squeeeler's took the liberty of cashing in some favours during the week and employed the services of the Skaven Star Player Headsplitter. The Squeeelers obviously a little more than scared by the Scabbers recent Tilean League recruit Biggs Rhodentia
Scabbers won the Toss and decided to recieve.
Scabbers started the first turn with some tried and true tactics running some supported Gutter runners into the opposing half and keep the ball deep in the back half of the field. Headsplitter lined up one of the GR and used his momentum and ferocity to plonk the GR into the crowd. Itchy Doormouse the Scabber star reciever caught the ball from an Long Pass from Labrett Labrat the Scabbers Quarterback, and quickly moved closer to the endzone, with Skaven scampering everywhere to place in Tacklezones. Turn 3 Score to Itchy Doormouse.
The Squeeelers Drive started out deep on one flank with Headsplitter leading the way, clearing a path, against the Scabbers much maligned "Flying V" Defensive Formation. Lone Linerat Flick Padfoot, managed to make his way to the Squeeelers GR and plonked him down on his tail. But was unable to find the extra legs to get the ball, putting him in a precarious position with no support. The Squeelers Rats mobbed the lone Linerat as he squirted the musk of fear, but they fumbled the ball and it went into the crowd. The ball was thrown in by the crowd into empty space, but opportunistic Scabbers players, took the ball and was quickly whisked away by Rookie Gutterrunner Squeeks McGinty Jr, son of Squeeks McGinty (RIP), was able to score his first TD.
End of Half 2-0 Scabbers.
With the Scabbers injury woes mounting, with a number of players in the KO bin and Headsplitter rampaged around the ground. Bigs Rhodentia coped it hard against Headsplitter and was sent to the KO bin where he spent the rest of the game, along with Blitzer Queek Warpstorm. With Injuries to 2 Linerats one from Headsplitter. The Squeelers took the opportunity to score early on their drive and hoping that their numbers would get them to score. An intercept by Squeelers Thrower during a routine play by the Scabbers allowed them to even the score at 2-2 with 3 turns to play.
Set up for a final run at the TD line the Scabbers looked to thier Star Runner Itchy Doormouse to find space and score..it was tough going with strong defensive tactics by the Squeelers, but the smallest gap is an opportunity and Itchy Doormouse did not disappoint. With the assistance of Drek Bubonik, and some Linerats, Itchy Doormouse was given the room to break through and with the Squeeelers players unable to catch him to make the tackle, he made a simple sidestep to score on the last turn giving the Scabbers the win.
Final Score 3-2
Casualties 0-2
MVP for Scabbers, Queek Warpstorm...(skill increase +1 AG)
MVP for Squeeelers, Unknown.
Well there you have sports fans...another Rat on Rat battle with the Scabbers now 2-1 up in the local Derby.
After a slow start to their season and with the Cheese Appreciation Society, wodering if their sponsorship was all but lost...the Scabbers now take on a 4 game winning streak and their heads held high.
Giving them 4 wins, 1 Draw and 4 Losses.
Til next time Bloodbowl Fans!

round 6 saw me line up against the only halfling team in the league. as is to be expected i was giving up a fair amount of inducements, and so had to deal with a halfling master chef (no surprises) and deeproot also (again no surprises)
however, taking deeproot meant he was at a bare minimum of 11 players. always dangerous when playing with str 2 meatsacks!
I managed to get the kick off, and elected to recieve. the plan was simple. The chainsaw and bomber would nullify as many treemen as possible, whilst the trolls dealt with trees and focused on removing halflings from the pitch.
i decided to keep the fanatic in reserve for later fun.
the master chef nabbed 1 reroll
The game started off decently, with a halfling injured first turn. The chainsaw kicked back but was able to stun deeproot, while the bomber fumbled and stunned himself. the trolls did what they did best, tag teaming to deal with trees and flings alike, and despite some desperate halfling defence, my pogoer was able to break through the lines to safety and wind down the clock. The chainsaw got knocked out, tho not before downing another tree, while my bomber recovered to score a casualty!! as a blitzing halfling managed to injure himself, netting the bomber some valuable star player points. the bomber then spent its time throwing bombs at trees, while the trolls cleared house. scored on the last turn, leaving 1 halfling and 3 trees on the pitch. survived the one turn of smash from the trees, and was luckily able to avoid needing to start the fanatic on the pitch.
The second half started well for the goblins. the master chef did nothing this half, while some early pressure on the ball carrier made it tough for the flings from the get go. deeproot was dropped by a troll with some help, and seriously injured! one tree took root, which the fanatic promptly went after, leaving 3 flings around the ball and one solitary tree. this proved to be enough tho as the fling with the ball survived the block and was then thrown by the treeman in 2 tackle zones, getting him clear of danger. 2 risky go for its (failing on a 1 or 2 due to bad lighting) saw him get clear of any possible counter threat. one goblin managed to get a tackle zone on it, while the fanatic fell over going for it trying to at least throw a single block... definately not its best game after picking up mighty blow!
the halfling managed to dodge out to tie it up.
this left him down to 4 players tho and it was easy enough to contain them and my pogoer scored again for the 2-1 win.
it was a decent game for the goblins, with 2 tds and 6 casualties netting a large chunk of spp. my bomber got a casualty, while the pogoer nabbed a casualty and 2 tds to go to 22 spp and level up, though will have to wait for the result to be approved to see what comes of it. hopefully a stat up or double will come through (definately due for one) in which case block will be the go. otherwise it will be sprint no doubt to make the most of sure feet. my multi block troll managed to nab 2 casualties taking it to 14 spp, and even managed to multiblock 2 halflings! while the guarding troll did well but couldnt get any spp to take him over the threshold for his second skill. next game!! my goblin with sidestep got mvp, as well as a casualty, putting it within a touchdown of its next skill up.
Round 7 looms against an ogre team. its packing 6 fairly skilled up ogres, and another 6 not so skilled up snotlings. no inducements mean the game will be on a level playing field also. with finals looming, the wood elf team that is my competition for top spot and a finals berth had a draw, meaning if i can pull off the win it will give me the advantage going into the last 3 rounds, as i wont be able to catch him on tds for (the defining factor if the win-loss points are the same) View/Add Comments ..... |
